Gemline Activates Solar Power Generation System at Lawrence, MA Headquarters
Gemline, a leading promotional products supplier, announced today the activation of a Solar Power Generation System at their Lawrence, MA headquarters, as part of their continued commitment to the Company’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) efforts. The new solar array, consisting of 1736 modules, was installed in late 2021, and became operational as of August 2022. Since then, Gemline has saved over 221,000 in CO2 emissions, which equates to over 1,600 trees planted. Annually, the system is expected to reduce energy consumption by approximately 43%. Real-time metrics can be found on Gemline’s Solar Power and Energy Consumption Dashboard here.
The Company celebrated this pivotal milestone with a ribbon-cutting ceremony performed by Lawrence, Massachusetts Mayor, Brian A. De Peña. Also in attendance were George A. Ramirez of the Lawrence Partnership; Dan Bolger and Don Lewis of Eastern Bank; Chad Couture of Solect Energy; Gemline executives, Jonathan Isaacson, CEO and Frank Carpenito, President; and Gemline CSR committee team members Susan Kamacho, Arthur Chung, Tim Behling, Andy Blahnik, Pam Stauffer and Gus Gonzalez.
Gemline partnered with the recognized leader in commercial-scale solar, Solect Energy, based in Hopkinton, Massachusetts, to install the solar power generation system. Solar energy is clean, renewable and abundant, and investing in solar energy saves money while allowing Gemline to power a proportion of the business with renewable energy. Eastern Bank, Gemline’s financial partner, provided funding for the project. The solar system is part of an increasing effort on the Company’s part to continue to operate more sustainably.
“We believe our Company has a long-term ongoing responsibility to the environment,” said Frank Carpenito, President of Gemline. “The implementation of our new solar power generation system is another exciting step forward on our journey to become a more sustainable and responsible company. We are also very proud to be the only major supplier in our industry to be fulfilling almost half of our annual energy needs with solar power.”
