Scott Hareid and Cathy Miller, MAS, have been selected as the 2021 PPAI RAC (Regional Association Council) Volunteers. Hareid, owner and president of multi-line rep firm Hareid Marketing, and Miller, regional sales manager for Geiger, were formally honored at the 2021 RAC Leadership Development Workshop, which was held virtually on July 21-22.
The PPAI RAC Volunteer Award is presented annually to regional association members who have demonstrated an outstanding level of volunteerism and leadership, and who have made significant contributions to a regional association. Since the award was first introduced in 2010, 20 industry professionals have earned this recognition.

Hareid has a long history of leadership with the Upper Midwest Association of Promotional Professionals (UMAPP). He has held several positions on its board, including board president in 2013-2014, and led and participated in a number of its committees. Among his accomplishments with UMAPP, Hareid is credited with leading an initiative to develop new board guidelines for all directors and officers, and he was one of those responsible for introducing the regional association into the world of end-buyer events. He received the UMAPP Volunteer of the Year award in 2009 and its Lifetime Achievement Award in 2020.
Along with his service to UMAPP, Hareid was the RAC board treasurer in 2014-2015 and he has been an active PPAI volunteer. He served on the Association’s board of directors in 2015-2017 as RAC delegate and has been on several of PPAI’s committees.
Miller’s service to the regional association community and the industry at large spans more than two decades. She led the board as president of the Sunbelt Promotional Products Association (SPPA) in 2001 and as president of the Promotional Products Association of the Mid-South (PPAMS) in 2009, and served in numerous other board roles with both associations, and lent her time and expertise to several initiatives as well. Miller was also a member of the RAC board in 2003-2005. She was presented with the Dianne Watson Volunteer of the Year award by SPPA in 2015 and is this year’s PPAMS Hall of Fame inductee.
Named a PPAI Fellow in 2016, Miller has volunteered with several of the Association’s committees, including its Membership Services and Awards committees, and has been a PPAI Pyramid Award judge.
